Coastal Workshops
Coastal Workshops in the school holidays
Easter, June half term, summer holidays (6 weeks), October half term (All open to PUBLIC). Autism friendly sessions also delivered during school holidays
3 hours workshops (bring a packed lunch) £16.50 per child aged 5-12. Pick up and drop off (parents do not need to stay but can do so on special request)
2 hour workshops (Easter and October half term) £11 per child
Now a 10% off cost of session for 2nd sibling
(Families in receipt of benefits please contact us prior to booking - a reduction will be given on proof )
Beach Explorers
Young Beach Explorers – for children aged 2-4 alongside their parent/carer
Weekly sessions available at 2 different coastal locations Whitburn and Roker. Alternatively, we will consider travelling to a different coastal location upon request (additional travel expenses may be incurred)
Running from April – July/ Sept - Nov £6 parent + child (1 hour 30 mins). This is a creative and nature - based approach to learning, actively engaging children and bringing them together to experience the world around them and each other. There will be freedom to roam and wander, facilitated by a Coastal School Leader
Big Seaweed Search!
·Big Seaweed Search event – across the 4 seasons (family event)
1 ½ hour - 2 hour session,
£7 for parent and child or £12 for family of 4
Coastal Explorers Club
Coastal Explorers Club – (one Saturday in the month depending on tides) These will be held at different locations along South Tyneside’s coastal route.
April to October for children aged 7-13 (Years 3 - 8). These sessions will be geared towards exploring elements of our coastline. Activities will be planned but we remain ‘child led’ and guided by the children’s interest on the day. These sessions will be very different to how we run our holiday beach sessions. There will be more walking involved over various terrain so please be guided by this before booking your child onto the session.
2 hours (Open to PUBLIC) £11 per child - drop off and pick up
Party Time!
Do your children want a party with a difference? Experience the beauty of our coast and beaches here in the North East. You provide the cake and candles and we will provide the fun and excitement that you only get with Beach School. We can provide a bespoke adventure – just ask! Bring wellies, wear old clothes, and expect to get wet, bring a set of spare clothes!
However much you have planned your party session we will be child led. We are led by the interests of the children attending and no child will be forced to do anything they don’t wish to do.
What’s Included?
A Tides of Change Reef party is £10 per child for a 2 hour session, with a maximum of 12 children. This price includes one member of staff and a qualified Coastal School Leader. Please note (for children 5 years and under we do state parents/guardians stay and must be prepared to get involved and be hands on).
Reef Birthday Package
We would recommend choosing 3 activities. Below are some of the typical activities on offer; however we would be happy to accommodate any other ideas you or your child has to make their day extra special. Bespoke sessions are available - please ask
Shelter building create your own design using basic materials and equipment • Group games – using sand, pebbles and sticks • Rock pool safari • Pebble Art and sand sculptures • Treasure Hunt ‘Go Find It’ game • Tiny treasures find as many different coloured grains, pebble, rock fragments as you can • Sensory exploration blindfold walk, bury your feet, what’s in the bag
Surf’s Up Package
Surf’s up would be priced at £14 per child for a 3 hour session, with a maximum number of 12 children. It includes any of the 2 activities from the above list and all the extra activities below.
Fire lighting – how to build a fire, make a spark and enjoy it safely
Eat up! - Toasting marshmallows and (smors) or chocolate bananas
Drink Time - Hot chocolate drink (winter) or juice drink/flavoured water (summer)
Upcoming events
Sessions are suitable for children aged 4-12 (Reception to Year 7) with varying ability and needs. These are all drop off and pick up sessions. Meeting point - MARSDEN BAY car park. Please contact us if you feel your child may not cope with this, arrangements for a parent to attend can be an option
